Alexander Valley Vineyards
Alexander Valley Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery located at the south end of the Alexander Valley. The Wetzel family has been growing grapes and making wine at the original homestead of Cyrus Alexander for over 50 years. The winery's main focus is on the production of Estate-bottled Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot as well as the well-known Sin Zin Zinfandel.
How We Are Green
Alexander Valley Vineyards keeps the "green" theme in mind in everything they do, from planting cover crops to recycling unused corks and capsules and everything in between. Solar panels for electricity generation, underground caves for energy savings on cooling and humidifying the wine barrels. Reducing water use through cellar cleaning practices, and using post-consumer recycled paper in their copiers...everything is green focused.
Alexander Valley Vineyard’s many “green” initiatives have been in use for over the past three decades. Early on, the Wetzel Family composted winery waste, practiced irrigation management and planted cover crops in the vineyards to minimize the use of pesticides and control erosion. Harry Wetzel has followed his Dad’s lead on sustainability and says that “quite simply it is the right thing to do. Minimizing our impact on the environment is not only good for us, but it’s healthy for everything around us as well.”
