About
The Arizona Historical Society (AHS) is proud to serve as the steward of Arizona’s history. Our collections broadly represent Arizona history that offers a one-of-a-kind resource for Arizona history. Our artifact and manuscript holdings offer unique opportunities for public programming, educational outreach, and exhibitions, as well as academic and community-based research. AHS collections provide premier resources for recounting Arizona’s past, and they are invaluable tools for promoting public understanding of contemporary issues such as water availability, immigration, free trade, mining, ranching and agribusiness, the defense industry, cultural diversity, and urban development and revitalization.
Why we're Green
Energy efficiency measures include upgrading older HVAC units to newer efficient models, using tankless water heaters and Energy Star rated refrigerators, closing monitoring electricity bills, and their entryway limits cold air from escaping. They recycle electronic waste, eliminate chemical air fresheners, and choose unbleached paper products to reduce pollution impacts. They recycle all materials accepted by the City (and there is a public recycling drop-off spot in their parking lot!), they reuse packaging materials, choose paper over plastic bags, have reusable dishware for staff, and go paperless as much as possible. They check for water leaks on a regular basis, have desert landscaping and have had a water audit performed.
