The California Tennis Club is a traditional, private, full service, family oriented club dedicated to providing its members with an exceptional home away from home experience and promoting the game of tennis. The club is committed to engaging in green and sustainable practices in all aspects of operations.
The California Tennis Club was established in 1884 by Ms. Mary Therese Austin. The original site of the club was located at the corners of Sutter and Van Ness avenues until 1887 when club members voted to relocate to the present site at 1770 Scott Street.
Why We're Green
The Club also has a full restaurant and bar. We have been composting for 7 years. We use compostible to go items, compostible straws; installed a 45kW solar system and converted to efficient LED lighting in 2013. During a renovation in 2011, high effieciency water heaters and furnaces were installed.
