About
Our all-volunteer, non-profit thrift shop sells a wide range of donated items to benefit our local communities. We have great bargains everyday. The money raised at our Thrift Shop is given away in the form of grants. Our volunteers vote on the grant requests and award the grants throughout the year to Eastside non-profits who directly serve the community. In addition, ECA gives away free clothing and other items to people and families in need and referred to us by other local agencies.
Why we're Green
Not only do we recycle the obvious things like paper and glass, but we go above and beyond by recycling other things used in the shop too, such as plastic bags, batteries, scrap metal, metal hangers, and fluorescent lights. We are also big believers in textile recycling, so we participate fully in it. All of the textiles that come into our shop are either sold in the shop for reuse, donated to another organization for reuse, or taken to a company that reclaims soiled, torn, and otherwise unusable textiles. As a result, we can happily say that we dispose of less than 1,000 lbs of waste each year.
